What is Bowen Therapy

Bowen therapy, or the Bowen technique, was developed in Australia in the 1950s by Tom Bowen.

It is a system of bodywork which consists of a series of gentle rolling moves in precise anatomical areas connected to muscles, tendons, nerves and ligaments. These moves can trigger changes in the myofascia and surrounding connective tissues freeing the tight, stiff areas and so relieving pain.

This holistic healing technique aims to restore your body’s balance by allowing the soft tissues to adjust and relax, and, in doing so, the whole body can reset. When you are balanced your posture improves and walking, running, cycling, and indeed all physical motion, requires less effort.

People around the world who suffer acute and chronic aches and pains have benefited from this treatment over the past 60 years.
It is a therapy which is so gentle that it’s safe for all ages from babies right through to the elderly and even during pregnancy. There is no force, no cracking noises and no manipulation. In fact, it’s so gentle, you’re likely to fall asleep.
